Though the author keeps her focus mostly on the effects proper nutrition and the removal of sugar has on developing minds of children, the results are certainly applicable to adults as well. Simontacchi's theory is that what we eat, or perhaps more importantly, what we don't eat, affects our brain's ability to function, develop, and also affects our mental state. She suggests that a change in diet could be the breakthrough needed to reduce the number cases of anxiety, depression, aggression, violent behavior, and self-harm cases -- especially in young adults. You need to read this book!
